Description:
Our street tree ordinance states the homeowners are responsible for the care of trees in the right-of-way adjacent to their home, which may sometimes be difficult for homeowners to budget for. Due to the increase in requests and the serious need for tree work to be done in the right of way, city council approved a one-time reimbursement program to assist residents with tree care expenses. This program is intended to provide limited financial support to treat, prune, and/or remove and replace high risk trees in order to provide a resilient urban tree canopy for today and future generations. Program is available between August 1st and December 31st, 2023.
Size of the Grant:
Up to a $1,500 MATCH of funds in the form of reimbursement.
Qualifying Details:
Candidacy of trees for the program is to be determined by, and at the full discretion of the City arborist based via a free risk assessment and list of qualifying factors.
Award Details:
Following the assessment, qualifying applicants will agree to and schedule tree removal, pruning, or treatment services with an approved contractor (approved by City arborist). Following the completion of approved services and the submission of a receipt, a reimbursement for the predetermined amount will be paid as a match to the qualifying property owner. Stump removal is not included in the grant program and is a separate cost incurred by the property owner.
Funding Information:
A reimbursement of 50% up to $1,500 for removal and replacement, 50% up to $1,000 for pruning (for hazard or health), OR 50% up to $400 for treatment may be given.
