The City of Glenwood Springs will hold a community meeting from 6:30pm to 8pm on Nov. 16, 2016, at the Community Center to discuss alternatives for the replacement of the 27th Street Bridge.
The presentation will include an overview of the project background, design alternatives and potential community impacts. Following the presentation, time will be provided for the City and design team, AMEC Foster Wheeler, to receive written questions from the community.
AMEC Foster Wheeler was selected as the Design Consultant for the project in April. AMEC initially analyzed 21 possible alignments for the bridge replacement with both roundabout and signaled intersections at 27th and South Grand Avenue. Analysis and meetings with the adjacent property owners/neighbors and the Colorado Department of Transportation identified four viable alternatives for the alignment. One of the alignments ultimately was eliminated due to cost concerns and the potential impact on adjacent neighbors.

Written comments will be accepted at the meeting and emailed questions will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 18. City Council will review the community comments and recommendation from the Transportation Commission at the Dec. 1 Council Meeting.
Completion of the design and environmental process to replace the 27th Street Bridge is anticipated in 2017. The approved 2017 Budget includes $1,202,854 in funding for the project, of which $620,828 is Federal Highway Administration off-system bridge funding.
