Boring and soil sample operations on the 27th Street Bridge will impact traffic on Jan. 16-18, 2017. Information collected from the testing will be used in design and planning for the replacement of the 27th Street Bridge.
The 27th Street Bridge will be limited to one west-bound lane on Monday, Jan. 16, from 6:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. East-bound motorists will be detoured to the 8th Street Bridge for access to Grand Avenue. Drilling during the daytime closure is anticipated to take 12 hours. Jan. 16 is Martin Luther King Day – a holiday for the Roaring Fork School District and other businesses.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, crews will be boring overnight into the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 18, and east-bound motorists will again be detoured to the 8th Street Bridge. Work will begin Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. and end Jan. 18 at 5:30 a.m.
On Thursday, Jan. 19, contractors will be working outside the roadway at the northwest corner of the 27th St and Grand Avenue intersection.
All times are approximate and are weather dependent.
Completion of the design and environmental process to replace the 27th Street Bridge is anticipated in 2017.
