The City is aware of the ongoing pothole issues throughout town.
Since Wednesday, City crews have been focused on patching potholes throughout town. Today, two crews are out filling potholes and working to prevent further road damage by opening drainages. During winter months, while asphalt plants are closed, the City relies on cold mix to patch asphalt. The freeze/thaw cycle and ragged edge potholes fill with water which makes long term repairs more difficult, thus causing an ongoing need to fix the holes sometimes daily. City crews clear debris from potholes before patching them so patching materials adhere to the road better, but ongoing water infiltration sometimes causes quick re-failures. City crews will continue to focus on pothole repair until additional snow falls, when the crews will move into snow removal again, but they will return to the repairs after snow has been cleared the following day.
