Thanks to a FASTER Grant from the state of Colorado, Ride Glenwood Springs will add a new 29-foot Gillig transit bus to the fleet starting on Tuesday, June 25.
The bus is ADA compliant and equipped with a Cummins L9N ultra low emission engine, powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
The L9N is certified to the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Optional Low NOx emissions standard of 0.02 g/bhp-hr — 90% lower than current emissions standards.
The Colorado Department of Transportation awarded the City $458,384 in FASTER Grant funding in 2017 to assist with the purchase of the bus.
The City will hold a ribbon cutting and inaugural ride at 1:30p.m., on Tuesday, June 25 starting at City Hall. The initial bus ride will make a short loop on Wulfsohn and Midland Roads.
Ride Glenwood Springs is the City's year-round public transit bus service.
