Big news! Crews are wrapping up preparations for the pedestrian bridge installation and traffic bridge girders. These are both critical activities in the project schedule.

Save the Dates - Full Bridge Closure: July 25-29

To accommodate a safe operational plan that expedites construction, crews will install the new pedestrian bridge and fly girders for the traffic bridge July 25-29. With staging the girders and the cranes on the current bridge, it was determined that the remaining width on the bridge would be too narrow to safely accommodate traffic.

The 27th Street Bridge, S. Grand Ave. intersection and Atkinson Trail will close at 7 PM on Thursday, July 25 and remain closed until approximately 6 AM on Monday, July 29. This closure will include night work and is weather dependent.

The traffic detour will be via 8th Street. There will be no through access at S. Grand Ave. and 27th Street (Buffalo Valley is not an alternate route for CO 82).

It is anticipated that the Roaring Fork River will also be closed or have periodic holds during this period. Call before you float, 618-5379.

Significant delays are anticipated, so plan ahead. More information to come as schedule is finalized.

For safety reasons, individuals are asked to avoid the area during these operations. Due to the constrained site area and the complex nature of operations, there isn’t a great spot for safe public viewing. The construction team will take photos and videos for online viewing. Trespassing or loitering in the area will not be tolerated.

Thank you so very much for your patience – this project encompasses valuable infrastructure upgrades that will serve the community for years to come. Projects like this benefit from our strong community partnerships and we thank you for being a part of the effort.
