Know Before You Go: 27th Street and S. Grand Ave.
August 8-9
8/8: S. Grand Ave. closed 8 PM-6 AM (between Penrose Plaza and Berthoud Motors) for utility work. No thru S. Grand Ave. traffic access. The 27th Street Bridge and business access remain open.
8/8-9: For CDOT CO 82 curb ramp improvements, the right turn pocket on eastbound 27th Street to CO 82 will be closed during the daytime on Thursday and Friday. Use the center lane on 27th Street to turn right onto CO 82.
Roundabout Construction begins August 15
Construction of the new roundabout at 27th Street and S. Grand Ave. is set to begin on Thursday, August 15. During roundabout construction, motorists should anticipate narrowed driving lanes and various lane closures. Construction will begin with work for the north and east legs of roundabout. Once complete, the new roundabout will add much needed capacity at that intersection. With the added capacity daily traffic movement should improve for the 14,000 plus users of that intersection.
The roundabout will be constructed in sections over the next several months. By phasing the roundabout sections, crews hope to minimize impacts, but motorists are encouraged to plan extra travel time, especially when school begins on August 19. Additionally, please be alert in the construction zone as traffic patterns will be changing throughout this work.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
Pedestrian and bicyclist access will remain open with some detours. Bicyclists may be asked to dismount in the construction area.
Beginning August 15, S. Grand Ave. between 27th Street and Penrose Plaza will be closed continuously until approximately mid-September. Access to businesses along S. Grand Ave. between 23rd St. and 27th Street will remain open via 23rd St.
No left turns will be allowed from westbound 27th St. (towards Midland Ave.) to S. Grand Ave. Anyone intending to head towards Buffalo Valley will be directed towards the Midland roundabout and to loop around and return to the intersection for a right turn.
Schedule and routes are subject to change and are weather dependent. Updates or changes to the schedule will be announced via ConeZone and will be updated on the project information line, 618-5379.
