[ARCHIVED] ConeZone: 27th Street 84-Hour Closure Reminder

Crews are working through their big push leading up to this weekend’s installation of the new traffic bridge (aka. the bridge slide).

The closure for the bridge slide will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 and will remain closed until approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Updates or changes to the schedule can be found on the project information line, 618-5379 (call or text).

Here are the top five things to remember:

The 27th Street Bridge, S. Grand Ave. intersection, Atkinson Trail and the Roaring Fork River will be closed through the weekend. Crews will be working through the night all weekend. Expect heavy construction machinery and large lights at night.

The 27th Street traffic detour will be via 8th Street during the closure period. Always move over for emergency service vehicles and do not block intersections. Plan extra travel time as delays are anticipated.

During the closure, there is no through river access at 27th Street. All river users must eddy-out at or before 3-Mile Creek or put-in downstream of the 27th Street Bridge. Call before you float to hear the latest river status, 618-5379.

During this closure, there will be no pedestrian access at 27th Street. The pedestrian and bicyclist detours for 27th Street Bridge and Atkinson Trail are via the Old Cardiff Bridge or via the 14th Street Bridge.

For safety reasons, individuals are asked to avoid the area during these operations. Due to the constrained site area and the complex nature of operations, there isn’t a great spot for safe public viewing. The construction team will take photos and videos for online viewing. Trespassing or loitering in the area will not be tolerated.
