[ARCHIVED] CONEZONE: 27th Street Full Closure Update

Cone Zone

The full closure of 27th Street bridge remains in effect as crews work diligently to recover from heavy snow delays earlier this week. The pedestrian bridge remains open and has no closures currently scheduled. Crews will reopen the roadway as soon as it is safe to do so and are closely monitoring weather conditions.

Fortunately, concrete was able to be delivered to the project site today (Friday, December 13) and pours are complete on the east side of the bridge. Activities for concrete pours on the west side of the bridge are ongoing. Once concrete is poured, it takes approximately 3-4 days in good conditions for the concrete to cure. Crews are using blankets and ground heaters to ensure the concrete cures to a quality strength.

Estimated time of reopening for the roundabout at 27th Street and S. Grand Ave. is early next week, weather permitting. An estimated time for reopening of the 27th Street Bridge is expected to be announced on Monday, December 16. Plan to use the 8th Street detour until the roadway reopens.

During the closure and on Monday, December 16, please expect construction noise and lights through the night for night work.

Thank you for your patience and stay tuned as updates to the schedule will be announced via ConeZone and will be updated on the project information line, 618-5379.

Work is weather dependent and subject to change.
