GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO – Citing recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Glenwood Springs City Manager Debra Figueroa issued an order requiring face coverings for all essential activities outside the home within the City of Glenwood Springs, effective April 7, 2020 until April 26, 2020. City Council voted 6-1 in favor of enacting an order requiring face coverings for all residents when entering and while inside of a place open to the public, and in such other public indoor or outdoor places where persons are unable to maintain safe social distancing (six or more feet separation) from others not of their own household. The CDC says that up to 25% of people infected with COVID-19 may be asymptomatic. The face covering is aimed at lowering the risk of the disease spreading through someone who may be sick but not realize it.

Face coverings can be bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or other clothing that does not have visible holes. The order encourages the public to use non-medical face coverings. Medical face masks are a limited resource and are needed for the Health Care community and First Responders. People should wash their face coverings after every trip out of their homes either in a washing machine or with hot water in their sinks.

“This is a small protective measure that is intended to protect your fellow citizens, not the wearer. We cannot wait for the spike in infections and then try to act, it will be too late. Eagle and Pitkin counties have taken bold moves in the face of this virus, and we need to do the same,” said Mayor Jonathan Godes

City Council also moved to hold weekly City Council meetings on Thursdays at 6:15PM, until further notice to address urgent matters related to COVID-19.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO - Citando las recomendaciones del Centro para el Control de Enfermedades (CDC), la gerente de la ciudad de Glenwood Springs, Debra Figueroa, emitió una orden para que todos los residentes y trabajadores minoristas de Glenwood Springs usen coberturas faciales para todas las actividades esenciales fuera de su hogar a partir de las 6:00 a.m. 7 de abril de 2020 hasta el 26 de abril de 2020.

El Concejo Municipal votó 6-1 a favor de promulgar una orden que requiera cubrirse la cara a todos los residentes al ingresar y dentro de un lugar abierto al público, y en otros lugares públicos interiores o exteriores donde las personas no puedan mantener un distanciamiento social seguro (seis o más pies de separación) de otros que no pertenecen a su propio hogar. Los CDC dicen que hasta el 25% de las personas infectadas con el coronavirus pueden ser asintomáticas. La cobertura de la cara tiene como objetivo reducir el riesgo de propagación de la enfermedad a través de alguien que puede estar enfermo, pero no darse cuenta.

Las cubiertas faciales pueden ser pañuelos, bufandas, polainas para el cuello u otra ropa que no tenga agujeros visibles. La orden alienta al público a usar revestimientos faciales no médicos. Las mascarillas médicas son un recurso limitado y son necesarias para la comunidad del cuidado de la salud y los primeros respondedores. Las personas deben lavar sus máscaras después de cada viaje fuera de sus hogares, ya sea en una lavadora o con agua caliente y jabon en sus lavabos.

“Esta es una pequeña medida de protección destinada a proteger a sus conciudadanos, no al usuario. No podemos esperar el aumento de las infecciones y luego tratar de actuar, será demasiado tarde. Los condados de Eagle y Pitkin han tomado medidas audaces frente a este virus, y tenemos que hacer lo mismo ", dijo el alcalde Jonathan Godes
