Glenwood Springs City Council Extended the Public Buildings Closure to May 27, and Face Covering Requirement to June 4, while re-instituting Ride Glenwood Springs, Airport Services, and Hotel Lodging. 4th of July Celebration cancelled.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO –Glenwood Springs City Manager Debra Figueroa extended the closure for all public buildings through May 27, 2020. This includes the Community Center, City Hall, the Police Department Administrative office, the Fire Department Administrative office, and the Art Center. In addition, starting May 15, 2020, virtual City Hall will be closed for a Furlough day every other Friday. Employees will not be working remotely or in the field on these days, this includes payments for utilities over the phone.
Face Covering Requirement Extended
City council voted 7-0 to extend Public Health Order No. 2-20 requiring face coverings for all residents when entering and while inside of a place open to the public, and in such other public indoor or outdoor places where persons are unable to maintain safe social distancing from others. The Order has been extended to June 4, 2020. The full amended Order can be read HERE
Ride Glenwood Springs Resumption
City Council voted 6-1 to reinstate Ride Glenwood bus services in coordination with RFTA. The City of Glenwood Springs and RFTA will resume regular service of the Ride Glenwood system. The City is working with RFTA on a tentative resumption date of May 10, 2020. To protect riders and bus operators, Ride Glenwood Springs will implement RFTA adopted enhanced safety measures. Those measures include:
• Limiting passengers to nine at a time
• Boarding at the rear of the bus only except for individuals needing the wheelchair ramp,
• Allowing passengers to ride free of charge to limit the time spent standing close to the driver at the fare box, and
• Mandatory face coverings for passengers at all times.
Ride Glenwood serves the Community Center, the Meadows shopping center, West Glenwood Mall, Hwy 6/24, Downtown and the Roaring Fork Market Place. “We are eager to restart our Ride Glenwood service, particularly to those parts of town that had no bus service during the suspension.
Glenwood Springs Airport Resumption
City Council voted 7-0 to resume non-critical air traffic at the Glenwood Springs Municipal Airport. This is effective Monday, May 4 2020.
Short Term Lodging Extended Suspension
City Council voted unanimously to lift restrictions on short term lodging from Glenwood Springs Public Health Order No. 1-20, prohibiting the non-critical operation of lodging facilities. Per State Public Health Order 20-28, “private, short-term vacation-style rentals such as those arranged through an online hosting platform, including but not limited to VRBO or Airbnb, rented for a period of 30 days or fewer, homeowner rentals, and privately owned residences for rent, except if offered for use for the public health response,” are not allowed to operate.
4th of July Celebration
Citing the size limitation of group gatherings in State Orders, Council gave direction to the City Manager to cancel the scheduled 4th of July Celebration.
