The City of Glenwood Springs, Downtown Development Authority and the Glenwood Springs Chamber Foundation are announcing the Get Glenwood Going Grant for business relief.
The purpose of this G4 program is to provide rent, utility or mortgage interest relief for businesses and would provide grants of up to $4,000. Businesses will be eligible for one single grant of up to $4,000, regardless of their location within the community. These grants are available only for businesses within the city limits of Glenwood Springs. Businesses are also encouraged to pursue other assistance programs offered by the federal government and the State of Colorado.
The grant program is a collaboration among organizations to provide much needed assistance to businesses that are hurting throughout our community. The funding for this program comes from three sources: $100,000 from the city’s Financial Advisory Board grants and $100,000 that was originally allocated for the City of Glenwood Springs’ employees housing assistance program. The DDA also allocated $100,000 out of its 2020 budget to the grant program to assist businesses within the DDA district. Congressman Scott Tipton said this of the G4 grant: “Safely reopening Main Street will be critical for accelerating economic recovery, especially in rural and smaller communities where small businesses are the main employers and sources of revenue. I applaud the City of Glenwood Springs’ innovation and commitment to getting their local economy back up and running through collaborative measures including their newly launched G4 grant program to aid small businesses during this difficult and unprecedented time.”
Examples of businesses that qualify for the grant include but are not limited to retail businesses, lodging facilities, restaurants and other businesses within the city. Please reference the application for specific criteria.

Additional Assistance Initiatives
Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the City of Glenwood Springs is also offering a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF). The RLF will provide low-interest financing options to business owners operating within city limits for working capital needs, fire suppression systems, property improvements and limited construction among others. Loans will be distributed in amounts between $5,000 and $40,000 or 50% of the total eligible project costs. Downtown Development Authority: The Glenwood Springs DDA is a tax-funded district established in 2001 that covers 246 acres. The DDA seeks to enhance and broaden the downtown experience for residents and guests through infrastructure, beautification, pedestrian access and connections to open space, views and river corridors. Revenues to the DDA are earmarked and used exclusively for the purposes of downtown vitalization. There are more than 250 businesses within the DDA boundaries, and more than 175 of those businesses pay sales taxes. In 2019, businesses within the DDA boundaries contributed approximately 19% to the overall sales tax receipts for the City of Glenwood Springs.
Glenwood Springs Chamber Foundation: The Glenwood Springs Chamber Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-based, organization dedicated to support and advance the general welfare and prosperity of the greater Glenwood Springs, CO area. The foundation provides a vehicle to connect the best business minds with the community’s innovative thinkers to help solve important community challenges.
Finance Advisory Board: The Finance Advisory Board advises and assists the City Manager and Finance Director in the preparation of the City budget, the establishment of accounting systems for the City, the planning of expenses, the projection of revenues and the analysis of the other fiscal matters presented to the Board by the City Council. The Finance Advisory Board is also responsible for making recommendations to the City Council regarding grants from the City’s various grant programs as Council may establish from time to time.
