Glenwood Springs, CO – At approximately 6:00 PM two minor debris flow events occurred in Glenwood Springs in the 1600 block of Midland Avenue and a separate flow Downtown at 8th and Bennett Avenue, after heavy rainfall.

Midland Avenue was temporarily closed at the 1600 block while Street crews cleared much of the debris. Street Flaggers were onsite to direct residents to their homes. At this time there is no known damage to private homes and Midland Avenue is open to traffic.

The Downtown debris flow travelled down 8th street to Bennett Avenue where it continued to 7th Street and eventually deposited mud and debris at the Train Depot.

City Crews responded to both events for cleanup efforts. “The main objective this evening is to make vehicle travel safe on the streets and continue the final cleanup first thing in the morning,” said Streets Superintendent Jake Velasquez. Vehicles can access streets in the area however are encouraged to use caution as some debris is still present.
