NEW: I-70 Exit 116 Eastbound Exit Ramp
Beginning, Monday, Feb. 22nd the eastbound Interstate 70 Exit 116 off-ramp will be in a one-lane configuration for several months. The one-lane closure is necessary for utility work in the area. Because of the work location, it is necessary to close the trail crossing on the Glenwood Trail at Two Rivers Park near the I-70 Exit 116 for public safety.
Updated: 7th St. from Colorado Avenue to Cooper Street and Wing Street
The north lane will be closed; the south lane will be open to east bound traffic only.
State Highway 82 Grand Avenue Bridge
Through the end of the month, the Grand Avenue Bridge from 6th St. to 8th St. will have periodic variable lane closures in each direction from 9:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. The contractor is working to install the temporary walkway along the east side existing traffic bridge.
River Street
Restricted vehicular access. Traffic control in the area.
Interstate 70 Eastbound Exit 116
Eastbound at Exit 116 will be reduced to one-lane traffic. This will be the condition throughout Phase II. Speed limit reduced to 40 mph in this area.
Pedestrian access across the bridge.
From 7th St., pedestrians should cross at Cooper Street and use the current pedestrian bridge stairs. This alignment will be in place through the end of the month.
Parking ImpactsParking along the north lane of 7th St. from Colorado Avenue to Cooper Avenue will be closed throughout Phase I and Phase II of the project.
NEW: Utility Work Begins between 7th St. and 8th St.
Utility work for the Grand Avenue Bridge project includes the relocation/upgrade to the current below ground utilities including new water lines and storm sewer lines. Also, new fiber optic and copper lines for cable television, internet and communications along with new electrical lines for lighting in this area. The utility project will begin the week of February 22nd, 2016. The contractor will begin removing trees and street lighting in the area to prepare for excavation work. Excavation will begin on February 29th on both the west and east Wing Streets. The utility work is estimated to be complete by early summer. During construction, a 6-foot fence will be installed in the project area to create a barrier from the construction activities. The fencing will be in place until the end of this scope of work for public safety. Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.

The Pedestrian Bridge deconstruction will begin the first week of March and is anticipated to take approximately three weeks to completely remove and transport to a location in Glenwood Springs. Stay tuned for a deconstruction and transport schedule.
