[ARCHIVED] CONE ZONE: Traffic impacts on 8th Street between Grand and Cooper Feb. 24-28

Cone Zone

A portion of the 300 Block of 8th Street will be in a one-lane configuration Feb. 24-28, from 8am to 4pm to facilitate an Art Project installation. The sidewalk on the south side of the 300 Block of 8th Street will also be closed for the duration.

Installation of the art project is being facilitated by CORE in Aspen on the CMC building at 8th between Grand and the alley. The art installation will require a lane shift and closure of parking next to the building closest to the alley on the south side of the street. The lane shift will be in effect for five days though project completion may occur earlier.

The project titled, Imagine Climate 2021, will occur on CMC buildings at 8th and Cooper in Glenwood, at the Lappala Center in Carbondale, and at the CMC building on Highway 82 in Aspen. This is CORE’s 3rd annual exploration of climate art and technology.  This year they are working with French artist JR’s team. The buildings will be wrapped in photographs of local citizens commenting on how climate change has impacted them personally as well as their community. Installations will be up through March.
