S. Midland Moving

Pedestrian/Bike Detours, Fourth of July Weekend Schedule, Project Updates

The South Midland project team will be adding additional work areas located at the new roundabout and roadway on the east side of South Midland beginning next week. Progress continues throughout the project area, with crews working in multiple locations.

New Pedestrian/Bike Detour for Sopris Elementary School and Cardiff Glen neighborhoods

A temporary pedestrian detour is in place beginning Thursday, June 24, and will remain in place until the start of the school year.  Pedestrians and cyclists will be routed to the east of the Sopris Elementary School campus and east of Cardiff Glen onto Mt. Sopris Road. This closure is necessary for the construction of the new roundabout.

Fourth of July weekend schedule

Traffic impacts along South Midland will conclude at Noon (12:00 p.m.) on Friday, July 2, and will begin again on Tuesday, July 6. [No roadway closures on South Midland from Friday, July 2 at Noon through Monday, July 5.] Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

South Midland roadway and utility work

Motorists will experience a slight lane shift on South Midland to accommodate roadway work on the shoulder. The specific area is near the Park West neighborhood. Lanes will narrow to 10 feet.

Electric utility work continues on the east side roadway near Old Cardiff Road.

A date is still to be determined, but some residences will be impacted by an upcoming 8-hour power outage. The limited buildings that will be affected by this outage will be notified via door hangers and will be given a free pass to the Community Center due to the extreme heat.

Park West Pedestrian/Bike Detour

The Park West Pedestrian Detour is in place along Atkinson Trail and Meadow Road. Thank you for your patience while driving through the project and detour areas.

Summer Lane Closure Hours

While Roaring Fork School District is out on summer vacation, lane closure hours will be extended an extra hour to 4 p.m. on weekdays. This extra time will allow for a slightly longer work day for crews to boost productivity on project activities. Motorists should also anticipate regular lane closures on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
